Room to Sleep 4
A Hiada-way features one bedroom with a King size bed or twin beds. There is a full-sized futon in the living room. Cots are available for larger groups, but A Hiada-way houses four comfortably. All of the windows have blackout shades and curtains, for the visitors who are not used to Alaska’s midnight sun.
Convenient Location with a Wilderness Atmosphere
The subdivision has a walkable road where you frequently find the locals on foot or on a horse or bicycle. Several hiking trails are nearby in Soldotna and Cooper Landing.
We are close enough to the local towns for the convenience of shopping but far enough away to get the wilderness atmosphere you’d expect in Alaska. Nearby stores include Safeway, WalMart, IGA Country Foods, Fred Meyer and many sportsman and hardware stores.
Wildlife Viewing at A Hiada-way
Use ours binocular for wildlife watching right from the deck. Eagles are often perched in trees and on the river bank.
In the spring swans, snow geese and cranes rest in the open grass on their way to the North mating grounds. They can be here for days or weeks. This is a safe haven to eat undisturbed. Seagulls mate in the air and lay their eggs. There is often a battle of seagulls bombing eagles in an effort to keep them from eating the eggs and newborn hatchlings. In the fall and winter you will see ducks, cranes and swans. The wild cries of the birds is music to your soul. Year round you will see moose and often baby moose.
Close to Fishing
Float the Kasilof River with a guide and then walk 150 feet from the new Alaska State owned take-out launch to “A Hiada-way” where you can cook your salmon in the fully supplied kitchen with an Alaskan recipe provided by your host.
We do not provide fishing facilities. While our property borders the river we cannot allow guests to use our riverfront access for reasons of logistics and liability. We fish and we can locate a guide for your fishing adventure.
We are open year-round and always happy to answer your questions about Alaska. See you soon!!
